Resources for Low Income and Senior Residents 

Senior and low income residents are faced with significant barriers to yard maintenance and backyard conservation practices. We have compiled a list of resources for low income or senior residents who need help with backyard conservation practices, home safety, and tree or yard maintenance. 

• Franklin Soil and Water Free Rain Barrel Program - Residents who participate in the Low Income and/or Senior Discount Programs with Columbus Public Utilities can get a free rain barrel from Franklin Soil and Water. Income limits set by the DPU programs do apply. We cannot install it for you. Limited availability. 
• IMPACT Community Action Home Weatherization Program - Home energy conservation and installation services. You can get an optional free rain barrel installed with the home weatherization services - just ask! 
• MORPC Residential Services - Home weatherization and home repair programs are available.
• City of Columbus Housing Programs 
  • Chores Program - Assists senior citizens and/or disabled persons with minor repairs to their homes to protect the health and/or safety of the resident. 
• Tool Library - Provides members with access to over 4,000 hand and power tools. Discounted and donation-based memberships available for senior or low income residents. 
• Franklin County Office on Aging Minor Home Reapir Program - Minor repair service assistance including safety, air conditions, plumbing, concrete repair, broken glass. No cosmetic work. Income and age requirements apply. 
• Greater Columbus Network of Villages - Most villages help with yard maintenance. Find your local village and reach out for help.
