Green Spot

Resources for Businesses

Many of these "Community Backyards" concepts can apply to land managed or owned by businesses and organizations. They are relatively simple, small scale conservation projects and practices that can be easily implemented on a commercially owned or managed property! These practices benefit local water quality and sustainability, increasing Franklin County's climate resiliency.

We have reimbursements available for businesses and organizations to do green infrastructure projects within the cities of Columbus, Bexley, Grove City, Worthington, and one anywhere within Franklin County! Project examples include rain gardens, native plant pollinator gardens, pervious pavement, and rainwater collection systems. Featured Project

Check out the pictures below to see a green infrastructure project from a local business, Balanced Family Academy Clintonville, that received a Community Backyards Business Rebate in 2024. They used the funds to remove invasive plants and replant their gardens with native plants and trees. They also purchased new signage to educate the community and their families about it! They plan to use the space to supplement their weekly naturalist programs. Thanks to the owner, Rob Lewis, for coordinating the project and to Jared Goodykoontz, local naturalist and Nature Dad, for providing support and guidance. We can't wait to see how it looks in the coming years!
