Community Backyards Workshops

Free Local Conservation Classes

Attend a FREE workshop taught by local conservation experts. Our Community Backyards workshops are 1.5 hours long and taught in-person unless otherwise noted. Our workshops cover the same content as the online course, but they are more detailed and allow the chance to ask questions and have discussions with the presenters and other residents. You can register in advance to receive your voucher at the workshop. If you don't register, that's okay - you can sign up for a voucher during the class, and we will send you one via email or mail within a couple business days.

Franklin Soil and Water works with local organizations and businesses to present over 20 workshops per year around Franklin County. Thank you to our presenters from Friends of Alum Creek & Tributaries (FACT)Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW)Sunny Glen GardenColumbus Garden School, and IMPACT Community Action

Workshop Schedule

Workshops are listed below in date order. Click on the link to sign up for a particular workshop! Registration in advance is recommended but not required. Registration may close 24-48 hours prior to the workshop so that we can create vouchers and gather materials for the presenters. However, you are always welcome to just show up (unless otherwise noted below). If you show up without registering, check in with the presenters to fill out a voucher request, and we will send you a voucher within 1-2 business days after the workshop if eligible.

We will have over 20 workshops this year, and more workshops are currently being scheduled.

Workshops that already happened in 2024: Bexley, Canal Winchester, Dublin, Upper Arlington, Worthington, and Columbus (Linden, Franklinton, Better Lawn Care @ OSU)
